The buyer's questions.
Plain answers. No software-company language. Grouped by what people actually worry about.
Will this annoy my customers?
Nine texts in the first year β and two of them are about your clocks. One email. Every one from a real name. If they reply, review, or text STOP, it stops right there. At eighteen months it stops on its own.
The customers
What are the three asks?
For a review, in the first week. For a referral, three weeks in. To come back, when it's time β an interval you pick at setup, preset by trade. One customer, one number, one calendar, and the asks are spaced so no two ever land together.
Will customers get annoyed?
Nine texts in the first year β and two of them are about your clocks. One email. Every one from a real name. If they reply, review, or text STOP, it stops right there. And the whole thing winds down and ends on its own at eighteen months.
What if a customer complains to the check-in?
You hear about it first, by text, before Google does. The review ask still goes out β we never pick and choose who gets asked β but you get a day to make it right.
Do you only ask happy customers?
No. Everyone gets asked the same way. Google's rules say you can't pick and choose, and we wouldn't want to. The check-in just means you hear about a problem before Google does.
What number does it text from?
A local number in your business name. Replies come to you.
The setup
Do I need software?
No. Three ways in β pick whichever is true today. Text us the customer's name and number from the truck; seven seconds. Forward your invoices to your own AskEveryCustomer address. Or connect Jobber, Housecall Pro or Square once, and a finished job starts it.
Do I have to talk to anyone?
No. Card on file, five minutes on your phone, done. Everything after that is automatic. If something's stuck, email us and a human replies β but nothing in the setup needs a call.
What do I do day to day?
Zero, unless it's cash. Invoice them or take a card at the POS and the texts go out by themselves. Cash is the one exception: one quick text from your phone with their name and number, and you're back to zero.
When do you ask them to come back?
When you tell us to. At setup you pick the interval, and we preset it by trade: five weeks for a barber or salon, three months for detailing or cleaning, six months for dental, vet or physio, eleven months for HVAC, plumbing or chimneys, each season for landscaping, pools or snow β and never, for one-time work like roofing or paving. For regulars it's a lapse alarm: if they keep coming, they never hear it.
The money
What counts as a customer?
One person, once a year. A customer is counted the first time we text them, and not again for twelve months no matter how many times they come back β a barber's regular is one customer, not twelve. Landlines and bad numbers are never counted: if the first text doesn't go, there's no charge.
When do you charge my card?
Card on file to start. Nothing is charged until your sixth customer. From then it's $2 a customer, added up and billed once a month, after the month. A month with no new customers is a month with no bill.
What if I get busier?
Every customer is $2 β the twentieth and the two-thousandth. No plan to upgrade, no tier to cross, nobody to phone.
What if I have a slow month?
Then it's $0. If ninety days go by with no customers at all, we pause the account and release the number, so you are never paying for a line you aren't using. Email or text us and it's back the same day.
What is a Sales Ad?
Optional, and off until you write one. When you've got something to say β a September tune-up special, a slow-week discount β you write one line and we text it to every customer on your list, from your number, with your name on it. 50Β’ a customer, and you see the total before you tap send. Never more than two in a customer's eighteen months, never in their first month, and STOP still means stop.
Is the price the same in Canada?
Yes. $2 is $2 on either side of the border β US dollars for US businesses, Canadian dollars for Canadian ones.
The fine print
Can I cancel?
Yes. Email us, or text STOP to your own AskEveryCustomer number. No contract, no phone call, no βare you sureβ screen. You're billed for the customers already asked that month and nothing after.
Do reviews help me rank on Google?
Usually, yes. They're not a magic ranking button, and anyone who says otherwise is selling one.
Where do you work?
The US and Canada.
Everything else
Do you answer the reviews too?
Yes. Every new Google review reaches you by text the day it appears, with a reply written in your voice. Pick reply for me at setup and a YES approves it and one tap posts it; pick send me the draft and you paste it yourself. A one-star gets a 'please call me' draft and a nudge to phone them first.
Still a question?
Email us. A human replies.
